You have been warned…

Warning signs are a great way to communicate risks that you have identified but can’t remove or mitigate any further.

Examples are a wet entrance floor if the weather outside is bad, hot water taps, plug sockets, and pinch points on equipment such as GHDs.

Instructional signs for safe use of equipment are also useful to display in the gym as a reminder. Examples include putting crash mats under ropes when climbing, wrapping thumbs around the bar during pull ups, using the hook grip on Olympic lifts, paying extra attention on box jumps to ensure solid foot placement, using clips to keep weights in place on barbells and having boxes to the side rather than behind you if you need help to reach the rig.
By creating a welcome pack for members you can also include all this information as standard which can be sent via automated email on registration. You can then have a declaration set up that they need to complete to confirm they have read and understood this before they can book into any classes.
Being able to prove you have communicated risks and provided measures for members to keep themselves safe is an important part of your Duty of Care as a business owner.
