If you’ve been caught out by a breach, such as an obstructed fire exit, what next? How can you safeguard your business against it happening again?
In the instance of finding an obstructed fire exit, beyond the obvious first step of clearing this, you would then communicate the need to keep it clear to your staff and members in a manner that keeps a record – think email, Facebook group etc. This makes everyone aware of the issue and need to keep the area clear. Regular reminders my be required!
Going forwards, add this into the gym opening and closing procedures. This ensures it is kept clear at these times.
Monitor/record this arrangement and if the door is still getting obstructed, further measures may be necessary.
